Great Weekend Of Rugby At Bangkok Tens

The Bangkok International Tens one of the largest rugby, festivals in the world is over for another year. It was a great weekend. Eddie Evans the tournament organizer, knows how to throw a rugby party. Nine years ago he simply called on his rugby contacts around the world to create the festival. Stepping into the Patana Sports Complex you can feel the electric atmosphere.

The tournament has a relaxed feel, allowing people to stand on the sidelines as opposed to being kept at a distance in the stands. The informal atmosphere also led many families to bring along their children to enjoy the event. Even if you are not a die-hard rugby fan it is thrilling. The whole affair, rugby and music combined is an event that can only become bigger and better. This is all done to raise funds for the Nak Suu Rugby Academy with their program to assist some of Bangkok's most disadvantaged children.

The result is a fast-paced game that witnesses frequent upsets and a sport that prides itself on creating a party atmosphere. This weekend was no exception with surprises and upsets at every turn. The rugby fans who ignored the current Bangkok political situation were well rewarded.

Southbridge Rugby Club from New Zealand took home the major prize after a hard fought tussle with the Nak Suu Warriors in the Final. The depleted Banger Colts worked hard all weekend but no gong. The Banger Veterans on the other hand took home the plate. The Banger Ancients played a game of yesteryear rugby entertaining all with sleight of hand. At the end of their match they handed over a cheque to Nak Suu Academy.
