Thai Navy Nobble Banger Colts

Last Sunday the Banger Colts traveled the Royal Thai Naval Academy in Samut Prakan for the last of the pre season friendlies in preparation for the Thai Rugby Union season that starts in two weeks.

With nothing at stake, both sides were intent on playing fifteen-man rugby. The match was divided into four quarters to give all players as much game time as possible and to try out different combinations. Missing some key forwards and backs, the Colts struggled to get their game together. Coping with a robust Navy team was a real challenge. The Colts were ahead largely through the efforts of Benjamin Rawson and Adrien Simon who both weaved magic in the backs.

The third stanza was a much more even contest with both sides played open rugby with play moving from end to end.  For the last ten minutes this game was very much in the balance, with both sides recognizing the importance of the interchange bench. The Navy stunned the Bangers in the dying moments of the game with a great try to register a narrow win. The Colts valiant effort wasn't enough to upset the Navy. There were some hard lessons learnt by the team last Sunday.

The Royal Thai Navy were, as usual, the friendliest of hosts off the field serving a feast of delicious Thai food on the sideline after the match. A nice touch. Final Score : Royal Thai Navy 25.  Banger Colts 22
