Last Saturday, the Banger Colts took on Thonburi University in a TRU clash at the Bangkok University Rangsit ground.
The Colts begun the early stages of the match with real intent producing a powerful display keeping Thonburi pinned in their own half with aggressive defense and effective counter attacks. This bright start was quickly rewarded after a slick backs move allowing an opening try from the half way line.
Rugby is built on doing the simple things well. On this day the Colts had it together. They took command scoring tries at regular intervals. Despite one way traffic and avalanche of points, there were signs that Thonbuiri University were not going to lie down. They had in their ranks a very talented Thai fly half. who single handedly ran the Colts ragged on occasions. For his efforts he scored two well deserved tries.
The Colts forwards had the final say, The foundation for the win was a sustained dominant performance by the pack, who provided the possession for some tries fashioned by an unfamiliar back line. They showed a lot of character, patience, perseverance and commitment all afternoon and the team deserved to get 60 plus points.
There are a still a few areas of the game to work on, but overall they can be pleased with their display. It was entertaining stuff. Tries were scored by Alfred Roos(3), Kane Epati(2), Pach Pea(2), Mike Swager, Perrick Klentzi, Jurgen Holmea and Antwan. Chris Manders had a kicking duties again and only missed a couple.
